Art Collection

Oriel Môn holds an exciting and diverse collection of drawings and paintings by many renowned Welsh artists.

This collection stems from the work of the Anglesey Rural Community Council which collected throughout the decades after the First World War, consisting mainly of work by Anglesey artists and collected for the enjoyment and education of the people of the island. Before the 1996 Local Government reorganisation the collection was curated by Gwynedd County Council museum service but was transferred to Anglesey County Council.

Since 1996 work by other artists has been added to the collection including artists from Anglesey or those whose work’s subject is the Island. Below you can see some highlights of the collection which include Gwilym Pritchard, Peter Prendergast, Claudia Williams, Donald Macintyre, Iwan Gwyn Parry, Ishbel McWhirter to name a few. To see more items from the collection you can visit Art Uk which includes all of our oil paintings and mixed media works. We are currently working on digitising our works on paper.
