I’m an artist and writer originally from Ynys Môn but now living in Dyffryn Nantlle, Gwynedd. I studied art and design at Newport College of Art during the 1980s and worked as a graphic designer in Cardiff and Dublin, Ireland. I’ve been drawing and painting in the Dyffryn Nantlle quarries of Dorothea and Pen yr Orsedd and surrounding area over the past few years. I’m interested in light, atmosphere and narrative. I’m interested in how these old industrial landscapes are gradually being taken back by nature and I attempt to portray some of the strangeness, history and beauty within these slate landscapes.
