Community Learning

Oriel Môn is a free entry museum and gallery. We offer four exciting gallery spaces and a dedicated museum. Visitors can also take advantage of our information and activity trails that accompany our exhibitions.

Y Nyth

Located in our museum space Y Nyth (The Nest) provides an inviting space for younger children to explore with their adults. Wooden tables, chairs and benches provide the perfect space to draw, sketch and colour. A range of Welsh and English language books are available to read together and there is also a selection of wooden toys and puzzles to discover. This area includes our community exhibition space showcasing some of the best work from local school and community projects.

Workshops for Children and Families

At Oriel Môn we host an exciting programme of workshops for children and families. These sessions highlight our extensive collections, inspiring exhibitions and the promotion of creative skills. Throughout the year we offer seasonal workshops in conjunction with local artists, practitioners and authors including celebrating the Welsh Museum’s Festival every Autumn.

During school holidays we offer Clwb Hanes (History Club) and Clwb Celf (Art Club) workshops for children. These sessions offer the opportunity to engage with our collections and exhibitions, while exploring artistic talents. The workshops include a gallery or exhibition trail and time in the Charles Tunnicliffe Room developing creativity and imagination. Typically, these sessions last for two hours and require a small fee to cover material costs. Adults are asked to stay and accompany the children - providing an excellent opportunity to work together and have fun!

Workshops for Adults

We host workshops and talks for adults throughout the year and opportunities to join us are posted on our social media pages. We also advertise up and coming events on site. The session fees are variable, but workshops include guidance from experienced staff and professionals and materials as required. Previous sessions have included wreath making, painting, sewing for beginners and an introduction to printmaking. We also work closely with our local partners and organisations to develop bespoke creative programmes for individual groups.

Please check our social media pages, or the events section of our website, for news of upcoming workshops for children, families and adults. If there is a particular workshop that you would like to suggest or for more information, please contact us.
