Spring Festival

Celebrate Spring

A celebration of heritage crafts and skills, nature, archaeology and art at Oriel Môn.

Location

Oriel Môn

Join us at Oriel Môn’s Spring Festival for a joyful celebration of heritage crafts and skills, nature, archaeology and art! This fun-filled day offers something for everyone, with hands-on activities, inspiring demonstrations, and fascinating stalls to explore.

Discover traditional textile techniques with the Gwynedd Guild of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers, where you can watch demonstrations and even try some of the skills yourself. Get creative at the Public Map Platform with nature printing and fabric writing, alongside digital work on tablets, or enjoy family sewing art activities with Canvas & Cloth. If you love working with natural materials, take part in willow weaving activities with Wispy Willows creating beautiful willow nests, and the Llyn Parc Mawr Community Woodland Group, who will also have an information stall and Marram weaving activity.

Music and nature lovers are in for a treat too, join Bexi Owen for a wonderful Celtic Singing workshop, or head out with Jules Cooper to learn about foraging. There will also be plenty to discover about local wildlife and conservation. Meet North Wales Wildlife Trust for pond dipping and to learn about the Corsydd Calon project, visit the Sea Watch Foundation to explore the Caru’r Cefni project through arts and crafts, and find out about conservation efforts with Red Squirrel Trust Wales through their Magical Mammals activity. The Anglesey Bee Keepers Association will bring an observation hive and share information about Asian Hornets and beekeeping, while Menter Môn’s Afonydd Menai project will host engaging information and games activities. Join Geomon and explore connections between people, place, and the landscape through art and community projects such as Stitched to the Ground. Heneb will be providing a fibre processing activity, look into the Iron Age weaving and dying process.

To make getting to the Spring Festival at Oriel Môn easy for everyone, a free shuttle bus will be running throughout the morning and early afternoon. The first journey will begin at 10:00am from Anglesey Archives, followed by a stop at the Library at 10:10am, and then the Church Car Park at 10:20am, before travelling on to Oriel Môn. The bus will then leave Oriel Môn at 10:45am to return along the same route and will repeat this journey every hour, continuing until 3:00pm. Visitors can hop on at any of the stops and enjoy a simple, convenient ride to the festival.

With so many creative, educational, and hands-on experiences to try, the Spring Festival at Oriel Môn promises a lively and memorable day for visitors of all ages. Come along, get involved, and celebrate spring with us!
