25 January to 13 July
Anglesey is a windy place and for centuries its residents have taken advantage of this useful and abundant source of renewable energy. During the 18th and 19th centuries almost 50 windmills were built on the Island. They were used to grind grain, pump water and run machinery. As a prominent feature of our historic landscape, they have long attracted the attention of artists. This exhibition presents a selection of artworks and historical documents from the collections of Oriel Môn and the Anglesey Archives, revealing the visual and historical appeal of these iconic landmarks.
