Biography

Pete undertook “formal” art training with the completion of a degree in Fine Art (Painting) during 1983. He considers that his real learning was undertaken through life experience and a return to painting following a 30 year break to work as a learning disability nurse. Since his return to painting in 2015, his work has become part of the collections of the National Library of Wales and National Museum of Wales.

“Cynefin” signifies the multiple, intertwined factors in our environment and our experience that influence us. It shapes how we think, interpret and act, it carries with it a sense of rootedness – temporal, physical, cultural and spiritual. Pete Jones states, “There is a thread that weaves itself throughout my work. Painting is my emotional response to people and places. I cannot predict the outcomes of the process of painting but aspire to capture the essence of a place, a moment in time, or the spirit of a person. The exhibition will feature a collection of paintings that explore “Cynefin” from a range of perspectives”.
